With wind chills hitting -27 degrees, the most coveted item from the runways of the Fall/Winter 2015-2016 New York Fashion Week would be furs. Vrai ou faux, furs are your best bet for staying warm throughout the brutal Syracuse winters.

Furs popped up all over the runways from the Cookie Monster pelt worn by Kendall Jenner at the Michael Kors show to the shearling coats from Ralph Lauren. They came in all forms from collars and coats, adding a warm touch to the runways. Some of my favorite furs that I have seen on the runways came from Altuzarra, Thakoon, and Rodarte.

Furs are a real staple for surviving winters of any kind, but it shouldn’t just be a survival piece in your closet. Furs being as glamorous as they are, should be worn on more than just occasions. Here is how to incorporate it into your everyday style.

Have a hot date with that special guy?

Pull out the fur! Wear it over a dress to add some class to your outfit.

Going out tonight but your beer coat won’t keep you warm enough?

Wear fur over your favorite graphic tee to add a sense of rocker chic to your style.

Are you heading to class but want to add a piece to take your look up a notch?

Add a fur coat to create the perfect high-low mix to your outfit.

Don’t let the subzero temperatures limit your style options. Take cues from the runways of the Fall/Winter 2015-2016 collections to heat up your style.
