Length & Layered

Length & Layered

Fall fashion is all about the practicable – keeping warm. The problem is how can we achieve high-end style while bundling up from head to toe? ‘Length’ and ‘Layered’ is your answer. On this year’s fall runway, fashion tycoons like BCBG, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton, have turned their spotlights on long piece clothing and multi-texture combos. As it turns out, one does not need to bare skin in the cold to look chic.

Turtleneck, suit and a jacket: check out how Anthony Vaccarello put together three pieces in one outfit. Each piece on its own can be thin and weak but together they make a perfect combination to defend the cold. With white on the inside, grey as a transition and monochrome for final touch, the choice of colors highlight the fierceness of this ensemble. On the other hand, Moncler Gammer Rouge, showed us a more casually-inclined design—hoodie and coat. With the same color tone as Anthony Caccarello, this designer managed to bring femininity into the look.

Don’t hold yourself back from choosing longer clothing, especially over coats. The 2014 runway was filled with ultra-long coats. Chanel, for one excelled in terms of ‘length’. Because of the length, the plain-colored couture does not look binding or cheap. It gives plenty of room for the ladies to do their power walk. But don’t stop with trench– you can try with other fabrics as well like the white woollen piece from Maison Rabih Kayrouz, for example.. The fuzzy texture is enough to make your fall warm and cozy.

When you’ve got the ‘length’ and the ‘layer’ it’s time to learn to put the two elements together. Both Louis Vuitton (left) and BCBG (right) have captured the essences of these fashion rules on their cat walk. The ‘length’ was not only represented in their choices of over coat, but also in boots and dresses. And the ‘layered’ was displayed with the combination of different clothing texture – fur, chiffon, wool and leather.

Stop choosing between thick sweaters and hoodies. Put together your own layered look to match with a long outerwear piece. No doubt, you will be the one that’s wearing the runway and stealing the attention.
