Fall colors have been the same year after year. Classic staples such as burgundy, burnt orange and mustard yellow in coats, sweaters, and scarves have always been sure sign indicators of the changing season. This is why even the most attuned fashionista did not see Autumn/Winter 2013 and 2014 fashion shows coming.
Models stomped the runway in light-colored coats reminiscent of candy. Bubble gum pink, mint green, cotton candy blue, and lemonade yellow; no color was off limits to rule–breaking designers. The line between Easter brunch and high fashion fall runway show was used as a jump rope. Over the last two years designers such as Carven, Burberry Prorsum, Simone Rocha, Gucci and Céline have added light touches of spring to their outerwear.
The trend didn’t end on the runway. Several editors, bloggers, and buyers, all front row regulars, stepped out wearing pastel coats to the shows this past September. This trend tastes sweeter than ever and it looks it is here to stay.
