5 Minute Makeup Mad Dash

Ever had those days where you wake up 10 minutes before class and don’t want to look like a complete zombie? Here are some tips including some time saving makeup products that will keep you looking bright, awake and pulled together in a matter of 5 minutes.

Tip #1: Invest in a lifesaver aka BB Cream
BB creams (short for beauty/blemish creams) are similar to tinted moisturizers but better. They not only even out your skin ton but they also treat the skin with antioxidants or other anti-aging ingredients, plus offer broad-spectrum SPF. There are a variety of BB creams such as colt favorite, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 (39.00), which primes, protects, hydrates, controls oil and perfects. BB creams can apply to all different skin types and colors. When in a rush, this can be best applied with clean fingers. However, if you have time – invest in a Beauty Blender (19.00), which is the ultimate makeup sponge applicator that leaves your complexion looking completely flawless in a matter of minutes.

Tip #2: Cover areas, in which people may notice how tired you are.
Apply concealer to your under eye circles and any blemishes or redness you may have that are still showing after applying BB Cream. Make sure you have a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your natural skin color in order to further highlight and brighten that area, to make you appear more awake. You can also purchase a product that both conceals and brightens much like the popular Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclate Radiant Touch Concealer (40.00), which is loved by models, makeup artists and celebrities. You can also apply this lightly to the tops of your cheekbones to give you more of a glow. After applying concealer, quickly set your face with your go to powder in order to keep all the liquid face products you just applied on all day.

Tip #3: Tame Your Brows
When you’re in a rush, you don’t have time to fill in, tweeze and set every little strand of your brows. However, there are muti-purpose products that exist such as the Benefit Cosmetics Gimmie Brow (22.00), a brow-volumizing fiber gel that not only adds a bit of color but also keeps your brows in place in one sweep.

Tip #4: Play with the eyes!
If you don’t have time do your normal eye makeup routine, apply 1-3 coats of mascara as needed. You want a mascara that can lengthen, volumize and separate all at once similar to Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara (23.00). Then take a eye shadow pencil, highlighter, eyeliner or an eye shadow in any sort of light color (silver, champagne, white, etc…).  Place this color in the inner tear duct of your eye, in order to give your eye a brightened effect.

Tip #5: Add a splash of color
Don’t think you have time for a blush or a lip product? How about trying a cheek and lip stain – Benefit Cosmetics Benetint (30.00) works like a charm! Not only does this 2-in-1 product save you time but lip and cheek stains create a longer lasting effect than any other individual cheek and lip product would have given you. All you need is to apply a small drop of tint to the apple of your cheeks. Then start to gently blend up the cheekbones toward the temples. After, use your finger to put a small amount of tint to the lips for a nice color. However, if you don’t have a lip and cheek stain handy – you can actually do the same thing with lipstick, which essentially works the same way as cream blush. A lot of people only use lipstick for the lips, but the stickiness of the product itself works perfectly for adding color to the cheeks while staying there!
