DIY: Hardware Necklace

DIY: Hardware Necklace

Statement necklaces have become a fashion necessity. They transform an outfit from uninspiring to memorable but they can often be costly and sometimes if you go the cheaper route, it might look like you tapped into your childhood collection of plastic costume jewelry. This DIY will help you make an industrial piece of neck candy that you will love. Here is what you will need:

-Metal washers
-Jump rings
-Necklace chain
-Nail Polish

Step 1: The brush of a bottle of nail polish is perfect for painting each washer. Pick a bold color and apply a coat to the metal, leaving the back without polish. Wait a few minutes for drying.
Step 2: Assemble the washers in a triangle-like shape.
Step 3: Fuse them together using jump rings. Use pliers to open and close them securely.
Step 4: Lastly, attach the chain to your washer creation! Since only one side was painted, you can wear the hardware necklace with either the silver side up for an industrial look or the painted side up for a pop of color.
