Sixth Annual Milestone Fashion Show: 9 to 5: Work, Fashion & Communications

Lights, camera, fashion! This Friday the Newhouse 1 lobby will be transformed for the catwalk. The Fashion and Beauty Communications Milestone will be having its sixth annual fashion show. Each year the show explores a critical issue within mass media. This year’s show, titled 9 to 5: Work, Fashion & Communications, will tackle the serious issue of unemployment and the continued need for job creation.

“I expect the show to have a wonderful turnout,” says Mohammad Diallo, fashion design senior and fashion director for the show. “My team and I will deliver an exciting fashion show with the best scenes and the very best looks.”

The show will focus on the ongoing closings of Syracuse factories, celebrate working mothers, showcase affordable professional looks, and salute our champion SU Women’s Field Hockey team, along with much more. Over 60 Newhouse and VPA students are apart of the shows production and creation team and even more will be walking in the show.

The Fashion and Beauty Communications Milestone is an academic concentration that allows students to explore the communications side of beauty and fashion.  The coursework is taken from both Newhouse and VPA and covers topics such as: the history of fashion, contemporary fashion in popular culture, visual communications, fashion advertising and promotion and much more.

9 to 5: Work, Fashion & Communications will take place this Friday at 7p.m in the Newhouse 1 Lobby. Admission is free. You can also follow the show on Twitter at #NHFashion2013.
