Here Comes the Sun

Here Comes the Sun

With summer break only weeks away I can practically hear the ticking countdown to freedom in my head. I’ve already started plotting the road trips, concerts, ice cream, and – of course- sun drenched inspired looks that will go along with it.

The spring runways certainly provided a lot of foresight. But, unfortunately, finals are quickly approaching, and it’s still too soon to actual hit the beach. In the mean time, take a look at some trend favorites that are sure to amp up your summer beauty sensibility.

Sleek, textured hair was all over the spring 2012 runways. So don’t shy away from weathering the elements this summer; pool and beach hair work perfectly to embrace this messy due. But if you aren’t lucky enough to get away for a while, texturizers and gels will certainly do the trick.

Anna Sui

The cherry red lip is the cute summer update of this classic look. A lighter, orange-based color will bring your lips from eveningwear to picnic perfect when paired with rosy cheeks and minimal eye makeup.

Michael Kors

Ladies, take note. When done right, bronzer can be a beautiful, natural complexion enhancer that provides just the right amount of healthy summer glow. When done wrong, it will make you look like a character straight off the Jersey Shore. The trick this year (as shown at Michael Korrs) is to use bronzer to sculpt and define in the hallows of the face.

Jason Wu

A pop of coral screams summer in the tropics (or at least in your back yard). But beware of overkill- a little coral goes a long way! My favorite ways to incorporate this hot color are via small touches like jewelry and nail lacquer. At Jason Wu, stylists used achieved this punchy look by using OPI “Monsooner or Later” on models.
