Oops, Target did it again. After hitting the racks Feb. 5 at midnight, the Jason Wu for Target collection sold out in a matter of hours. Shoppers lined up outside the nearest Target branch, practically salivating at the mouths while waiting for the doors to open.
Target’s wildly successful designer collaborations have placed it ranks above other retail stores like Walmart and Kmart, whose designer lines combined haven’t done half as well. Jason Wu for Target was yet another immediate success for the store.
True to Wu’s plain and simple aesthetic, his Target line utilizes a basic color palette of navies, reds, and blacks to achieve a day out on the town feel. Unlike the vampy looks from the runway, many of the pieces in the collection are flexible, flirty, and fun for those on a budget. Prices range from $19.99 to $59.99.
If you didn’t get a chance to snag any new Wu items, 11,000 pieces can be found on eBay for a moderate price. Pair one of his dresses with heels and a blazer to be workplace chic, or with white Keds and a cardigan for a more relaxed, but no less fashionable feel.
