Although there are many things I adore about the holiday season, one of my favorites is the opportunity to shamelessly exploit my favorite fashion accessory- sparkle! From tinsel covered trees to sequined New Year’s dresses, the winter months require a heavy dose of holiday bling. But one of my favorite ways to showcase the trend is on the nails. The fall is full of neutrals and pretty pastels pop in spring, but the holidays are truly the time to shine! Sure, you may not have piled on any glittery beauty products since the sixth grade, but nails are the perfect way to incorporate some trendy sparkle to your look without looking like an 80’s disco queen.
Even uber conservative Chanel runways featured glitzy metallic silver on models’ nails for fall 2011 (shown above). The silvery tones are reminiscent of winter snow, yet other metallics containing gold or multi-color flecks are popular choices- especially when it comes time to ring in the New Year. Want to up the bling factor? Try some rhinestone appliques to create a gemstone look like the one created for the DSquared Spring 2012 show (featured at top). Sporting these tips let’s everyone know you’re ready for a party!
