OXFORDS!

JCrew Oxfords

Have you ever been walking down the street and seen someone wearing the cutest pair of shoes and thought, “Where are those shoes from? I need them!” You would never go up to her and ask, that would be too awkward. But in the back of your mind, you may think back and wish you had sucked up your pride asked — or just stolen them right off her feet!

Well, now you can find those seemingly long lost items! My weekly blog will let me ask the awkward question for you, and identify trendy items that I see people wearing in the tundra we know as Syracuse. I’ll also make sure to give you tips on where to find the exact item, or one very similar.

Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2011

My favorite trendy shoes this season are oxfords. Oxfords look like men’s tuxedo shoes. This season, androgynous and menswear styles for women have been very popular, from Tory Burch’s Spring 2012 Fashion Week show, to the pages to Vogue, to Evan Rachel Wood’s red carpet outfits. However, unlike most trends, Oxfords are a timeless style, and a wardrobe must-have.

Junior Kyle Suba sporting oxfords

The trend has hit SU’s campus as well. Kyle Suba, a junior public relations major, is seen here wearing brown oxfords. So where did she get them? At DSW, a discount shoe haven, and they were a bargain at only $70! What I love about this specific pair of oxfords is how classic they are. They combine the style of a sophisticated businessman with an elegant girly- chic aesthetic, especially when paired with a feminine outfit like Kyle’s.

For some alternatives, check out these pairs from Urban Outfittersor these pairs from Steve Madden.
